I have lived in Michigan for most of my life… and always s had something for tattoos in my veins. Ever since I was a kid I would hear the bikers roaring through town and seen all the skin art. The life style that these heavily tattooed guys lived attracted me intensely. Well when I got old enough to start drawing and painting that’s all I would ever do. Starting in church drawing ninja turtles on the backs of bulletins and eventually art classes In Jr. high school and then to intermediate and advanced art classes. Eventually one of my teachers noticed the potential and taught me a lot about art history and different techniques and tricks to oil and acrylic painting.
I started doing interior décor paintings for people around town and doing well for myself financially. I saw a future in art related sales and a career in my life began to bloom. Well I’ll say this with a smile I started tattooing in shop class with the buzz saw going full blast to hide the noise of the tattoo machine buzzing away. As I learned the rough ins and outs of this awesome and exciting new medium of art that I loved at the moment my first shitty tattoo got done.
Eventually I had a great friend, show me the real ins and outs of the tattoo industry. And a brief look into what I needed to accomplish in my art work to become a tattoo artist. And I’ll tell you I had a lot of work to do. I started that work six years ago. And found a passion beyond everything I had previously attacked.
Now a long time later I find myself here at A.W.O.L. Custom Tattooing. I specialize in custom New Skool high bold color work. I try to put out a lot of flash art during my down time and try to paint as often as I can.
This business takes a hell of a lot of dedication and that’s what I’m about all the way from the long hours to the design, and layout of any tattoo related art along with the process of designing custom tattoos for my clients.
