Tattoo Apprentice Jake Achterhoff
Jake was born in Ludington Michigan but grew up in Oceana County. He has wanted to be a professional tattooer since he was a very young man. He tinkered for some years before entering into his apprenticeship. Since high school he has learned multiple skilled trades such as metal working, welding, auto body, mechanic work, hvac, and is currently working full time repairing, maintaining, and operating injection molding machinery on top of his apprenticeship. He sqeezes in time to draw and develop his artwork whenever he can. Jake also has a wife and two kids that he loves dearly. So it's pretty easy to see that he has a full plate. Fortunately he is equipped with the drive to handle all of this.
He places great importance on technical precision, adherance to process, and overall customer satisfaction. Jake's primary goal is to take a customer's vision and make it a reality. Unintimidated by style, size, and degree of dificulty, he is excited to start new projects (sometimes too excited :)) His goal is to establish himself as a full time artist with his mentor and his newfound friends here at A.W.O.L. Custom Tattooing.
Jake has only been apprenticing since 2024 but has been coming along fairly well. Though he has no formal art training his passion for art, enthusiasm for the craft, and sheer determination will hopefully bring him into realizing his goals.

Musical Choices: Oldschool country, but also enjoys a variety of other music from rap to punk and metal.
